Eleftheria Arvanitaki

Greek singer. Βorn on 17 October 1957 in Piraeus, Greece. She originates from the islands of Icaria and Paxi.
Her singing career began in July 1979 when, Άγγελος Σφακιανάκης (then a member of a touring Rebetiko trio, consisting of himself, Γιάννης Εμμανουηλίδης & Στράτος Στρατηγόπουλος under the name Κομπανία) accidentally heard her singing at a nearby table in a tavern on Skopelos island and, excited, invited her to join them; Πέτρος Εξαρχάκος joined soon after and the group was renamed ; they disbanded in 1985.
In August 2004, she participated in the closing ceremony of the Athens Olympics.
