Douglas Boyd

British classical oboist and conductor, born 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland.
He studied oboe with at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and with in Paris. He co-founded in 1981 and was its principal oboist until 2002.
In 2006, he ceased performing on the oboe to focus full-time on his conducting career. He held the positions of Music Director of (2001-2011), Principal Guest Conductor of (2008-2011), Artistic Partner of (2004-2009) and Principal Guest Conductor of .
He is currently Principal Conductor of (since the 2009-2010 season) and was also named Artistic Director of Garsington Opera in November 2012.
