About this artist
First coming to attention as one-half of the moody dream pop duo Exitmusic, Devon Church bridges the gap between the intricate electro-acoustic sounds of his former project and gruff, literate singer/songwriters such as Mark Lanegan on albums such as 2018′s We Are Inextricable. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Church developed his singing and songwriting with little more than an acoustic guitar. He formed Exitmusic with singer/songwriter/actress Aleksa Palladino, and they self-released their debut album, The Decline of the West, in 2008 (the same year they married). Another EP, 2011′s From Silence, and a full-length, 2012′s Passage, followed on Secretly Canadian before the pair separated and ultimately divorced. In April 2018, the duo’s final album The Recognitions was released. During this time, Church worked on his own songs; his debut album, We Are Inextricable, appeared on Felte Records in 2018. ~ Heather Phares
