Singer-songwriter David Lepage explores the connections between melody, emotion, and lyric that arise from chord patterns on a tiny, slightly broken laminate acoustic guitar with dead strings. Piano and keyboards are his primary instruments.
He is an active participant in the Charlottesville, VA singer-songwriter community. You might catch him trying out a song at an open mic, or sitting in on piano with Susie and the Pistols.
A Maine native transplanted to Virginia, David has been playing piano since he was 5 years old, and writing songs since his early teens. He is interested in songwriting, as a way to honor memories, people, and the day-to-day fabric of life.
"To me there is a well of beauty and difficulty in most things, from small gestures, to life-changing decisions, and daylighting those beautiful and difficult things engenders empathy. That's what I hope the songs do – daylight a few underground creeks."
