Canadian-born saxophonist Darren Rahn is an in-demand performer and producer with a bent toward groove-oriented contemporary jazz. A native of British Columbia, Rahn was born into a musical family and grew up performing in his parents’ gospel ensemble. After high school, he earned his undergraduate degree at Adams State University. He continued his education, earning his Master’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado. Basing himself out of Denver, Rahn began his double career as a solo artist and freelance producer. From the mid-’90s on, he built a long list of studio credits with artists like Dave Koz, Jonathan Butler, Najee, Bob James, Kirk Whalum, Eric Darius, Jeffrey Osborne, and Jeff Lorber. As a solo performer, Rahn has released a handful of well-received albums including 2005′s Once in a Lifetime, 2009′s Talk of the Town, and 2012′s Speechless. In 2016, he delivered Sonic Boom, featuring guest appearances from Rick Braun, Robin Eubanks, and others. ~ Matt Collar
