D-Trait is a naturally confident and passionate artist. Born in Denver but with an east coast upbringing, Philadelphia helped create the vibe and style that would eventually embody his music. An energetic freestyle enthusiast (“I could be 75 years old, out of shape and everything and I’d still bar you up,” he says), D-Trait shines with his creative flow and colorful delivery.
Crafty punchlines, carefully woven rhyme schemes and realistic stories make up “12 Seasons,” his first solo album released at the top of this year. D-Trait takes the listener on a journey through three years of his life, each watershed moment highlighted by the strength in his ear for production and relatable tales about growth and love lost.
The project is designed to be a dual EP release (Side A and Side B) and results in the perfect mash-up of pensive, reflective hip-hop tinged with R&B styles. It’s about love, passion, success, inspiration and the moments that change like the seasons. D-Trait is an impressive character, taking the reins of his own story rapping and singing a picture of the challenges and rewards in leveling up.
