About this artist

Cut Copy, the GRAMMY®-nominated, ARIA Award-winning pioneers of Australian electronic music, return in 2025 with their first new single in five years: “Solid.” Produced by Dan Whitford and mixed by Christoffer Berg (The Knife, Fever Ray), the track was finalized at Svenska Grammofon Studion in Sweden, using a legendary Neve console once used by Bowie, Eno, Queen, and The Rolling Stones. Born from personal and universal challenges, “Solid” is an anthem of resilience — a reminder to keep going, chase your dreams, and trust: we’ll be solid.

Formed in Melbourne in 2001 by frontman Dan Whitford, Cut Copy evolved into a full band with Tim Hoey, Mitchell Scott, and Ben Browning. Their debut Bright Like Neon Love (2004) earned NME praise, while In Ghost Colours (2008) debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart and entered the U.S. Billboard 200. 2011’s Zonoscope peaked at #3 in Australia, earned two ARIA Awards, and a GRAMMY® nomination.

Subsequent albums (Free Your Mind, Haiku From Zero, Freeze, Melt) showcased a fearless sonic evolution—from euphoric dancefloor energy to introspective electronic textures. Along the way, their music soundtracked global campaigns (FIFA, Dolby, Levi’s®) and major pop culture moments.

They’ve headlined over 1,000 shows worldwide and played iconic festivals like Coachella, Primavera, Lollapalooza, and Pitchfork Paris. Whether through classic albums, ambient experiments, or DJ sets, Cut Copy continues to push the emotional boundaries of electronic music.

With “Solid,” Cut Copy opens a bold new chapter—still evolving, still essential.
