Chance Peña is a Texas-born singer/songwriter known for his yearning indie folk and atmospheric production. After competing on The Voice in his mid-teens, Peña earning a publishing deal and found success with singles like 2019′s “Up, Up and Away” and 2021′s “War” which showcased his dusky and poignant tone. In 2023, he signed with the ONErpm label and landed a streaming hit with the moody “I am Not Who I Was.” Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Peña began writing songs at a young age. Citing influences like the Lumineers and rapper Kid Cudi, he successfully auditioned for Season Nine of NBC’s singing competition The Voice in 2015. He was only 15 at the time and the exposure he earned from his appearance helped him gain a publishing contract with Secret Road two years later. Peña kept up a steady stream of singles and EPs throughout the late 2010s which were marked by textured production and a dark, emotive tone. His 2019 song “Up, Up and Away” found placement in the film Five Feet Apart and that same year he released the EP Anxiety & Mixed Emotions. He also worked as a songwriter and was one of several co-writers on John Legend’s Grammy-nominated 2020 single “Conversations in the Dark.” In the next decade, Peña’s profile continued to rise with highly-streamed independent tracks like “War,” “Sleep Deprivation,” and “In My Room,” leading him to sign with the ONErpm label.
