Camp Trash cruised onto the national indie scene in 2021 with Downtiming, a tightly crafted four-song EP that fused together emo sincerity, power pop melodicism, and self-effacing wit in equal measure. The Florida band’s debut album, The Long Way, the Slow Way, arrived the following year.
Formed in 2019 by longtime friends Bryan Gorman (vocals, guitar) and Keegan Bradford (lead guitar), along with bassist Levi Bradford and drummer Alex Roberts, the Florida-based quartet benefited from a significant wave of online buzz before they had even recorded any songs. Sessions with Orlando-based producer/engineer Kyle Hoffer yielded a handful of hotly tipped songs that drew interest from Michigan emo revivalists Count Your Lucky Stars Records, which quickly signed Camp Trash and released their EP, Downtiming, in early 2021. Catchy tracks like “Bobby” and “Weird Florida” helped bring Camp Trash further acclaim, with the latter song serving as a lynchpin of their July 2022 full-length debut, The Long Way, the Slow Way. ~ Timothy Monger
