Blood Of Kingu

Sobre esse artista

The challenge of merging native folk music and pagan philosophies with black metal was seemingly not ambitious or all-consuming enough for the members of the Ukraine’s widely acclaimed Drudkh. Or else bandmembers Roman Saenko (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Thurios (guitar), Krechet (bass), and Yuriy Sinitsky (drums) wouldn’t have found the energy to start a side project in 2005 named Blood of Kingu, in order to explore Sumerian, Egyptian, Tibetan, and Indo-Aryan mythologies. Now, as you’ll see by turning to page 217 in your textbooks, Kingu was of course the Babylonian deity whose murder at the hands of the god Marduk spilled the blood that would give rise to mankind, etc., etc. So it’s no wonder that such timeless and evocative myths would provide a plentiful harvest of ideas for Blood of Kingu’s 2007 debut album, De Occulta Philosophia, and its 2010 follow-up, Sun in the House of the Scorpion. Class dismissed. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
