Hailing from Bristol, England, Blonde are a deep house production duo most prominently known for their feel-good electronic house grooves and bombastic dancefloor fillers. Comprising producers Adam Englefield and Jacob Manson, the pair formed the project when Manson began to delve into creating electronic music while at Leeds University. A friend suggested he send in one of his tracks to the official YouTube channel of Eton Messy, a house label run by Englefield. The two began to converse and discuss influences, bonding over a mutual appreciation for the ever-burgeoning resurgence of house music. Eventually, Blonde was born after the two began collaborating, with Manson remixing Englefield’s track “Now or Never” (the two operating under their individual aliases at the time: Englefield as Beluga and Manson as Thieves). Blonde premiered its first track, “It’s You,” via the Eton Messy channel during the summer of 2013 and after generating an online buzz, followed up with their first official single, “Foolish,” through Parlophone Records in May of the following year. 2014 ended well for the duo when they rose to further prominence with “I Loved You,” which received continuous airplay from BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Annie Mac and Greg James. The track reached number seven in the U.K. Singles Chart. Blonde went on to release a number of singles to continuous acclaim, and in 2016 rose to number four in the charts with the track “All Cried Out,” which featured vocals from Glee actor Alex Newell. The year saw continued success for the powerhouse duo when they collaborated with singer/songwriter Craig David on the track “Nothing Like This.” They also collaborated with Sigala, sharing a writing credit for the song “Don’t Need No Money” for London-based house vocalist Imani Williams. The duo’s single “Just for One Night,” featuring Norway’s Astrid S., appeared in 2017. ~ Rob Wacey
