Interview with joshuaflyboy

Joshuaflyboy is a singer-songwriter, comedian, and musician. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He fell in love with music when he was 14 years old listening to the likes of Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Romeo Santos, Daddy Yankee, and more. He loved music that it made people unite, sing along and smile. When he grew up he knew that he wanted to make music that people could relate to and enjoy.

As a young kid Joshuaflyboy always joined talent shows and would sing in church choirs. Now, he is proud of looking forward to traveling the world and collaborating with more great artists. He is also looking for a record label opportunity that will fit his category.

Tell us about your latest release, what's it about?

My latest release is called "whoa!!" it dropped on March 14, 2021 an English drill song featuring swaggdarebel my long time friend. It became a reality through the web thanks to the fan base and family and friends and my music team.

How did you record it?

I recorded it in a famous label studio called Jam Box Studio with a producer named CJ, previously at Interscope Records. CJ has recorded many famous Spanish songs such as, Romeo Santos and  prince Royce and more.

How did you distribute it? How did you promote it?

I'm an independent artist and distributed it through United Masters, which is a belongs to former president of Sony and Universal Music Group, Steve Stoute. United Masters gives artists opportunities that other distributions don’t with big playlists and companies.

The music industry is in a state of flux right now, where do you see it heading?

It depends on how you see it. I think this is a time to find different ways to connect with your fans and followers. These current times are giving great opportunities to independent artists in finding new and creative ways to engage and connect with people virtually as live shows won’t be happening any time soon. The music industry is constantly evolving and change is inevitable. Adaptation is crucial! Everything is moving towards the online world.

What's the most important thing missing from Songwhip?

The most important thing missing in Songwhip would  be for the artist to be able to perform live. It is an amazing site and place  to unite  all your music  platforms  into one. It’s really professional and helps artist get found quicker.

What is your advice to other indie artists to help fund their work?

Work hard, save money, and never let anyone make you doubt your talent and ambition. There’s a lot of envious people out there, but with a positive mindset and a great support system. You can build that strength to overcome that negativity and in the end you will get whatever you want.

Don’t compete with others, compete with yourself. My motto is that I am my own competition. It’s your life, it’s your dreams! Chase after that. Work hard, save money, and never let anyone make you doubt your talent and ambition.
