Billie Jo Spears

About this artist

The breathless voice of Billie Jo Spears lends her wistful country music a humid feel. She began singing on the stage at the age of thirteen and cut her first single in 1958. Entitled "Too Old for Toys, Too Young for Boys," Spears has come a long way since that seemingly Nabokov-inspired song. It wasn't until 1976 that Spears scored such groundbreaking hits with the sultry "What I've Got in Mind" and the famous sing-along "Sing Me an Old Fashioned Song."
