Why Backsnap?
As Idries and Raoul decided to join forces, they had to come up with a stage name. The name ‘Backsnap’ refers to the old school adjustable snapback caps with their snap buttons at the back. Just like the boys mix the old with new sounds and vice versa, the name Backsnap was coined by mixing the word ‘snapback’ and explains perfectly what their music stands for!

Who is Raoul Wouters?
Raoul was born on 8 august 1994 and started mixing tracks at the age of 12. Long before that his love for music started when his fingers touched the piano bars for the first time. His first dj controller was a fact and he knew how to cheer up his friends and family with his set. From that moment he definitely knew he wanted to play for a larger crowd.

During that period, Raoul started spinning with Idries more often. They both noticed that their collaboration worked perfectly and that is how they both became resident DJ's in various clubs in Amsterdam and Haarlem.

From 2012 until 2015 they performed together and from there they knew they needed a solid stage name. At the beginning of 2015, they came up with the name 'Backsnap' and kept this name under the radar until October 2015 during ADE when they hosted their own party at the Leidseplein in Amsterdam. Raoul and Idries are working in the studio with one goal: dominating the world with their music.

Who is Idries Sheik?
Idries is a bit longer active in the scene, way back 1999 where it all started. He wore different names, some people knew him as DJ Spinner and some as Xanto Dex.

He was born on the 1st of July in 1987 in Zwolle, grew up in Amsterdam and is living in Haarlem since 2006. He grew up in the 90s and got interested in music and technology during the rise of house- and trance music. His passion for electronic music grew when he started composing his own music.

At the age of 14, he started spinning and when he became 16 years old he bought himself a DJ set. From this period the occasionally got bookings in smaller clubs and school parties. After this, he performed as an eclectic DJ in different big clubs in Amsterdam, such as Melkweg, Escape and Panama. Quite something for a 16-year-old!

Since 2011, when Idries was known as Xanto Dex, he is working full mode on spinning and producing EDM and developed a preference for the rawer version of House. In his 'comeback period' he ended in the top 3 best DJs of Haarlem during the Loveland Pioneer DJ Contests in 2012 and 2013. During that same period, together with Raoul, he started performing as resident DJ in clubs in Amsterdam and Haarlem.

In 2013 he produced the Yearmix and Promo CD of Dance Valley. Moreover, he produced the official Beatloverz Mixtape in cooperation with Dyna. In the meantime the shared the stage with well-known names such as Roog, Emiel Roché, Leroy Styles and Franky Rizardo.
