About this artist

Young Drummer Boy, born Rigoberto Diaz, is an American rapper and record producer from Pomona, California.

The son of Mexican immigrants, Diaz grew up in a family with deep musical roots.
His Father was a member a Mexican rock band called Banda Ruby and his Grandfather was a real life mariachi in the streets of Zacatecas, Mexico. Young Drummer Boy learned to play drums at a young age and quickly gravitated towards all types of music.

Growing up in a city that has produced many West Coast rap legends, Young Drummer Boy was heavily influenced by the rapping and production of DJ Quik, the slick street rhymes of Suga Free and the lyrical prowess of Tha Dogg Pound, Kurupt and Daz Dillinger.

In 2015, he released his second solo project “High Forever” producing the hit “Coke Dealer” featuring rapper Krypto. Riding high off of his solo and AK47 Boyz success, he decided to turn up the heat in 2017 by dropping “Barjud Ave”. The well received album spawned a video for “Talk About Me” accumulating 1.15 million views to date on YouTube and over 170k streams on Spotify.

Drummer produced his fourth full length project titled “Str8 out tha 9”, paying homage to his area code and featuring guest appearances from Compton AV, Devour, Compton Chapo and many more.

While navigating his way through the mean streets of Pomona and the treacherous West Coast rap game, Young Drummer Boy sees light at the end of the tunnel remarking “There is a way out of it without having to sell out”.
