About this artist

Atlanta rapper YN Billy translated his turbulent upbringing into cool and venomous lyrics and sleek trap instrumentals. At the same time he was on the rise, the rapper was facing jail time for various felonies, which he staved off for long enough to release attention-grabbing mixtapes like 2018′s YN.
YN Billy was born Yannick Gordon in Kingston, Jamaica. He spent his youth moving around between Jamaica, Canada, and Atlanta, graduating from trading sneakers to hustling drugs to make ends meet. By 2018 he was in trouble with the law, but also beginning to get noticed for his rap skills. Early singles like “Red Zone” and “Bud” were posted online, and YN Billy’s relaxed but ruthless style eventually led to a record deal. Throughout 2018, new tracks continued to emerge, as did the YN mixtape. 2019 was an even more productive year for the rapper, now firmly established in Atlanta. He released singles such as “O Man” and “Red Rag” before collecting some of his strongest songs on the Redville mixtape. ~ Fred Thomas
