About this artist

A fun-loving, melody-driven, AOR/classic rock outfit based out of Helsingborg, Sweden, the Night Flight Orchestra have ties to a wide array of established hard rock bands, including Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Darkane, and Spiritual Beggars, among others. Emerging in the late 2000s, the group earned a Swedish Grammy (Grammis) nomination in 2017 for their third album, Amber Galactic, with similar acclaim being garnered by subsequent efforts like Sometimes the World Ain't Enough (2018) and the two-part saga Aeromantic (2020) and Aeromantic II (2021).
Formed in 2007 by Soilwork’s Björn Strid and David Andersson, the band eventually morphed into a five-piece with the additions of Sharlee D'Angelo, Richard Larsson, and Jonas Källsbäck, all of whom appeared on the group’s 2012 debut, Internal Affairs, released by Coroner Records. They expanded again in 2015 with the arrival of multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Forslund, who marked his debut with the release of their sophomore effort, Skyline Whispers. In 2017, the Night Flight Orchestra inked a deal with Nuclear Blast and released Amber Galactic, which yielded a Swedish Grammy Award nomination. More accolades, including another Grammis nom, heralded the arrival of the band’s fourth full-length effort, 2018′s Sometimes the World Ain't Enough, which introduced full-time backing vocalists Anna-Mia Bonde and Anna Brygård. Using the glossy production style of ’80s pop/rock as a template, the band unleashed their fifth long-player, the soap operatic, air travel-themed Aeromantic, in 2020. A sequel album, Aeromantic II, appeared the following year. Guitarist David Andersson died on September 14, 2022, at the age of 47. ~ James Christopher Monger
