Indonesian singer Taco hit it big in 1982 with his synth-heavy take on Irving Berlin's "Puttin' on the Ritz." He gave similar treatments to other Depression-era hits, such as "In the Mood" and "Singin' in the Rain." The results were less popular, if equally inexplicable.
