About this artist

Originally known as Halide, Rise to Remain is a British metalcore band co-founded by Austin Dickinson, Ben Tovey, and Will Homer. Formed in late 2006, the band was initially conceived as a side project for its members, all of whom also played in other British groups. Halide quickly built an audience around London, however, thanks to a self-released EP and a heavy tour schedule. After earning an opening slot at the Download Festival in 2008, the band changed its name to Rise to Remain and began touring harder than ever, sharing shows around England with contemporaries like Shadows Fall, Five Finger Death Punch, and Trivium. Rise to Remain also continued recording new music, releasing the Becoming One EP later that year and releasing a follow-up EP, Bridges Will Burn, through the British magazine Metal Hammer in 2010. After opening for Iron Maiden during one leg of the band’s 2011 world tour, Rise to Remain signed with EMI. The band’s full-length debut, City of Vultures, was released that September, earning strong reviews and debuting in the Top Five of the U.K. rock charts. ~ Andrew Leahey
