Richie Milton

About this artist

b. c.1950, London, England. Playing guitar and singing, Milton became active on the UK blues scene where, leading his band, the Lowdown, he maintained an audience for many years. Eventually becoming a much-loved veteran, his repertoire ranges through blues, R&B and rock ‘n’ roll, all delivered in a lively and enthusiastic manner. Milton writes most of his band’s material, finding an effective mixture of traditional blues themes and contemporary trappings. Especially entertaining when heard live, Milton’s band continued into the early and mid-00s, with the leader sharing the vocal spotlight with Linda Hall. Others in the group at the time of 2005’s Bluesique were Dick Hanson (trumpet), Steve King (saxophone), Dave Lennox (organ), Phil Lucas (bass), and Paul Atkinson (drums).
