About this artist

The loose, jangly spirit of Remember Sports combines singer and main songwriter Carmen Perry’s rankled delivery and conversational lyrics with ’90s lo-fi and pop-punk influences. Originally calling themselves SPORTS, their 2014 debut album, Sunchokes, led to a deal with indie Father/Daughter Records. After changing their name to Remember Sports, their third full-length Slow Buzz arrived in 2018.
SPORTS formed at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio in 2012 with the lineup of Perry (vocals/guitar), Catherine Dwyer (guitar), James Karlin (bass), and Benji Dossetter (drums). Their first album, Sunchokes, arrived in mid-2014. Jack Washburn joined the band on guitar soon after, and the quintet signed with Father/Daughter Records, which issued their sophomore LP, All of Something, in late 2015. It was recorded in Philadelphia with Kyle Gilbride (Waxahatchee, Girlpool). The band moved to Philly before releasing a split single with San Francisco’s Plush in 2017.
In 2018, they rotated Dwyer to bass and brought in Connor Perry to replace Dossetter on drums. Rebranding as Remember Sports, the group released their third album, Slow Buzz, in May of that year. It was tracked by Evan M. Marré, aka Russel the Leaf, in upstate New York. Father/Daughter issued a Deluxe Edition of Sunchokes in late 2019 that remastered the original eight songs and added band demos and select tracks by Carmen Perry’s concurrent solo project, Addie Pray. ~ Marcy Donelson
