About this artist

U.K.-based Mush draw from the more eccentric side of alt-rock with their clanking, absurdist, guitar-led indie-rock first making waves with the release of their 2017 single, “Comment Section Creeps” and the heavily playlisted, ten-minute workout “Alternative Facts.”
Formed in Leeds, the foursome — Dan Hyndman (vocals/guitar), Steve Tyson (guitar), Nick Grant (bass), and Phil Porter (drums) — gelled over a love of all things alternative, with bands such as the Fall, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Captain Beefheart, and the Velvet Underground being reference points. Debuting in 2016 with the self-released EP, Ex-Communique, their angular and eclectic, but socially and politically charged, take on indie rock soon found a home on Art Is Hard, which released their 2017 single “Comment Section Creeps.” The follow-up, 2018′s “Alternative Facts,” was heavily played by BBC 6Music DJ’s Marc Riley and Steve Lamacq, even with its length clocking in at close to ten minutes, while the track “Gig Economy” was also featured heavily. Live dates followed, including numerous summer festival slots across the U.K. before the group headed out on their own headlining tour at the end of that year. 2019 saw new music from the group after they signed a deal with Memphis Industries. The EP, Induction Party, appeared in the May. ~ Rich Wilson
