About this artist

Backseat Driver hits the mark between ballad and soulful pop. As a chilled track that takes you on a journey, it can also certainly up-the-emotion in anyone listening who has ever felt like they’re stuck in the waiting room of life. It started at the upright piano of a beautiful Falmouth home, where Megan and her partner were cat sitting for a friend of a friend. The same reflective spirit of the break and spontaneous joy carries through as it describes a friend, that maybe we’ve all had, who isn’t comfortable at how their own life is going and so lives vicariously through others, trying to control and manipulate outcomes. That’s the backseat driver.

Megan Lara Mae has seen growing success in the South, pitched with the likes of GRACEY, FLETCHER and L Devine by Laura Freyaldoven for Spotlight magazine as 'Women making raw, authentic music'. Supporting Fenne Lily, Dutchkid, Deco, Wildwood Kin, Only The Poets, Lydia Evangeline and Martin Luke Brown on their various tours and headline shows, set her up for playing Glastonbury, Victorious and Great Escape till the recent pandemic where she saw herself playing to 40K at one time collaborating with Stradivarius on their Instagram Livestream. She gets continued support from BBC Music Introducing on BBC6 Music and the regional shows in the South & Midlands, where the Brum Radio team championed her single, 'Alright' as their track of the week - premiering in the A-List chart next to one of Great Escape’s ‘First Fifty’, Tragic Sasha.
