About this artist

Singer and actress Madison Beer is known for her effervescent and yearning pop. She ascended from a modest social media following to a major-label deal with an endorsement from Justin Bieber when she was still in her early teens. Releases like the Billboard 200-charting EP As She Pleases (2018) and U.K. Top Ten single “All Day and Night” (by Jax Jones with Martin Solveig) preceded her full-length debut, 2021′s Life Support. It mixed her high-spirited pop with darker alt-pop and R&B stylings.
A music lover and experimenter from an early age, Long Island, New York’s Madison Elle Beer started posting videos of herself singing covers of various well-known songs as a 13-year-old in 2012. Within a few months, pop idol Justin Bieber came across her version of Etta James’ “At Last” and shared it with his 25-million-plus Twitter followers. The resulting media coverage led her to a record deal with Island Records and a management deal with Bieber’s manager the following year. Around that time, Beer was also cast in a small role in the independent film Louder Than Words, which starred David Duchovny and made its film festival premiere late in 2013. Her debut single, the poppy, melismatic “Melodies,” also saw release late that year.
Beer’s vocals began appearing on other artists’ songs, including Cody Simpson’s “Valentine” and the 2015 club track “I Won’t Let You Walk Away” by Mako. She eventually issued her solo debut EP, As She Pleases, in 2018. The single “Home with You” landed in the Top 30 in Norway, while the EP reached the top half of the Billboard 200. That same year, Beer issued the non-album single “Hurts Like Hell” featuring Offset. In early 2019, the Jax Jones track “All Day and Night,” which featured Martin Solveig and Beer, hit number ten on the U.K. singles chart and number seven in Ireland. She made an appearance in the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 with “Selfish” the following year. Nine years after making a fan of Bieber, Beer delivered her debut album, Life Support, in early 2021. It outperformed her debut EP on the Billboard 200, reaching number 65. More singles followed that year, including “Carried Away” with Surf Mesa and “Reckless.” In July 2022, she released “I Have Never Felt More Alive” as part of the soundtrack to the film Fall. ~ Marcy Donelson
