About this artist

The roots of rock 'n' roll are peasants and rebels. This daring mix of black blues and white country - both genres of peasant origin - was unthinkable in those times of segregation in the United States.

True to this origin, the Rolling Ruanas adopt the peasant music of the Colombian Andes, the carranga, link it with rock and thus undertake a sound exploration with the purpose of crossing borders, without taking care of any wall in its path.

Natives of the chaotic and exciting capital Bogotá, The Rolling Ruanas are formed in 2014 with Juan Diego Moreno (voice and guacharaca), Fer Cely (requinto and choirs), Luis Guillermo González (guitar and choirs) and Jorge Mario Vinasco (tiple and choirs ).

Armed with the traditional instruments of the carranga and dressed in the typical peasant ruana, they decide to upload to YouTube singular covers of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, without thinking that they would become a viral phenomenon at the end of 2015.

The following year, the search for their own sound within their original fusion led The Rolling Ruanas to launch their first EP of original songs, entitled Origin, in which they demonstrate their musical evolution and position themselves as an important reference for new music Colombian

His first album La Balada del Carranguero will be released on March 17, 2017 and in it, the band aims to consolidate its sound and expand its musical universe, incorporating new rhythms to the already new mix. The first single of this album "Maleza" was released, in digital format, in October 2016. The second single will be "María Guadaña" and will be released along with the album. The participation of two important Colombian artists invited in this work is highlighted: Edlandia Velandia de Velandia and la Tigra and Catalina García de Monsieur Periné. The cover of the album is the work of Bogota artist Mateo Rivano.
