About this artist

Nashville’s Lionlimb is a psych-inflected indie outfit centering on singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Stewart Bronaugh. On album’s like 2018′s Tape Recorder and 2021′s Spiral Groove, they merged a variety of sounds from experimental rock to lush chamber pop.
Originally formed in 2010, Lionlimb was shelved for several years as Bronaugh spent time working in Chicago and San Francisco before returning to Nashville in 2014. Once back, he resurrected the project, collaborating on new music with drummer Joshua Jaeger. While also working as Angel Olsen’s live backing band, Lionlimb recorded and released their 2016 debut album, the Robin Eaton-produced Shoo. Following the group’s European tour, they returned to the studio and emerged in 2018 with the orchestral-indebted Tape Recorder. The album found Bronaugh scoring much of the music on paper, and utilizing cello, violin, and bass clarinet. Written while he recovered from a seizure, Bronaugh’s third Lionlimb LP, 2021′s Spiral Groove, was even more sonically intricate while exploring themes of sobriety, fragility, and romance. ~ Matt Collar
