About this artist

Britain’s Houssein is an upbeat pop vocalist, in the style of Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, who emerged via social media around 2016. A musical theater pro by his teens, Houssein garnered fans via his posts to Vine and Musical.ly. In 2018, he issued his debut single, “5 Bucks,” which hit the U.K. digital Top 100. Born in Houssein South in 1999, Houssein grew up in London, England, where he first became interested in music around age six after his father, British-Turkish Cypriot businessman Ramadan Güney, gave him a drum set. Later, his mother, Diane Holliday, encouraged him to join the school choir. At age nine, he joined a touring U.K. production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, an experience that led to a two-year stint with a similar production of The Sound of Music. By his teens, he was writing his own songs and posting cover videos online, including posting to Vine, where he nabbed over 250 million views. From there, he joined Musical.ly, where he amassed a similarly huge following, at one point becoming the most followed unsigned artist on the platform in the U.K. In February 2018, he released his debut single, “5 Bucks,” which hit the Top 100 of the U.K. digital charts. A second single, “Summer Night,” followed that August. ~ Matt Collar
