Claude Speeed

About this artist

Based in Berlin but originally from Scotland, Claude Speeed records hazy ambient drone drawing from classical and post-rock, with distorted memories of ’90s rave and trance music figuring into the mix. Speeed is a longtime associate of the Glasgow-based LuckyMe label/collective, and participated in one of the label’s first releases, 2010 EP Cool World by American Men. He began his relationship with Planet Mu in 2012, when he remixed Kuedo’s “Work, Live & Sleep in Collapsing Space.” Debut album My Skeleton appeared on LuckyMe in 2014, followed by the Planet Mu-released EP Sun Czar Temple in early 2015. He made appearances on Hudson Mohawke’s Lantern and Dedekind Cut’s $uccessor before returning to Planet Mu in 2017 with his second full-length, Infinity Ultra. Featuring a collaboration with Kuedo, the album was Speeed’s most ambitious, jarring work to date. ~ Paul Simpson
