About this artist

Austin Millz produces euphoric, glitzy dance tracks which seamlessly blend influences such as R&B, pop, and funk. First emerging with releases like 2017′s Cyclone EP and 2019′s strobe-lit Remi Wolf collaboration “Bad Behavior,” he worked with artists like Aluna and Teedra Moses on his 2021 Midas EP. High-profile reworks of hits by Mariah Carey, Nina Simone, and Chaka Khan preceded 2023′s Breathwork EP, which featured guests including Alina Baraz and Estelle.
Harlem-born Austin Millz was heavily inspired by producers such as Quincy Jones, the Neptunes, and Just Blaze. He started out making hip-hop, and his beats appeared on mixtapes by rappers like Wale and Jim Jones during the early 2010s. He moved closer to EDM-style trap with his 2015 remix of Brenmar’s “Don’t Want It,” and “Limelite,” a mellow house tune featuring Anishka, appeared in 2016. The three-song EP Cyclone, a glossy mixture of hip-hop, pop, and EDM, was released by Fool's Gold in 2017. Millz DJ’ed at Beyoncé’s Homecoming Coachella event, and released the 2019 singles “Broke Boy” (with Claire Ridgely) and “Bad Behavior” (with Remi Wolf).
In 2021, Millz released the EP Midas, a celebratory fusion of R&B, rap, and house which sported guest appearances by Aluna, Pell, Teedra Moses, BJ the Chicago Kid, and others. Another song with Pell, “What’s Next,” was issued in 2022, and Millz released official remixes of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” and Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” He kicked off 2023 with “Nobody Khan (Ain’t Nobody),” a nu-disco rework of the Chaka Khan hit. Millz surfaced on Ultra Records with the lush, summery Breathwork EP, which featured guest vocals by Sabrina Claudio, Estelle, Duckwrth, and others. ~ Paul Simpson
