About this artist

Hailing from Boston, Arthur Baker got his start as a club DJ before launching a career in music production. He began making tracks for Emergency Records, and moved to New York in the late 1970s. After producing a few singles for Michelle Wallace and Glory, Baker hooked up with upstart label Tommy Boy and co-produced two extremely influential tunes, "Jazzy Sensation" and "Planet Rock," each with Afrika Bambaataa. Eventually, Baker started his own label, Streetwise, and continued to produce club-ready dance tracks. His skills behind the boards led to many high-profile collaborations, including projects with Dylan and Springsteen. He released two albums of his own: Merge in 1989 and "Give In To The Rhythm two years later.
