A Lens to the Sun

One of the newest and most captivating acts to come out of San Diego, A Lens to the Sun fuses together compelling songwriting, intricate musicianship, and a sense of unbridled sonic adventure. This five piece rock group consists of Gideon Prior, Erik Elstermann, Logan Elstermann, Brendan Cutrer and Rick Slinkard. Each of the members are influenced by a wide range of artists, and this can be heard in the band’s unique style. A Lens to the Sun lands somewhere between the new romantic era of the 1980’s and the brooding rock of Muse and Radiohead. As described by keyboardist Logan Elstermann, “Our sound is a revolving door. When we sit down and write songs, anything is on the table, and from there we cultivate the music to our style.” The band's lyrical content is evocative, and sets to engage the listener with its singable melodies and expressive lines.
